After the latest update of WordPress (3.3) with the NEW TOOLBAR, using my favorite theme – ALTOP – :) the toolbar does not show and there is no way to easily get to dashboard, or to add page, post, etc.
As a very poor, unacceptable workaround, I've added the meta widget which exposes Site Admin. I've searched for hours and read everything i could find on this problem. It is the theme as it appears in the TwentyEleven and other themes.
There is not problem as many suggested with missing calls to wp_header or wp_footer, so I'm wondering if you know what your wonderful theme does that keeps the toolbar from showing under 3.3
Thanks.

thank you. and i apologize for what my seem to be a "double post", but felt that the SUPPORT FORUM was a more appropriate location for my problem. :)
i'm assuming that HuPh is ALTOP, but are you running the lastest WORDPRESS 3.3?
i tried your suggestion of "enabling" view of admin toolbar, but it was already enabled. i unchecked, updated, then checked and updated again, but no luck.
WORDPRESS developers say that it is no longer the admin toolbar but is now part of the desktop.
I downloaded the latest version you have and will try that, but it seems to be what i already have.
thanks again. i love the theme and hate to lose it.
Hey,
sure, I know what you mean. The new Toolbar since 3.3 is dark grey and smaller than the older one. You can see the new Toolbar on top of my screenshot. I'm using WP 3.3 german under XAMPP, but no Plugins.
HuPh is my new "Project" that is actually running under XAMPP. But the theme I've used is ALTOP 1.5.1
I only had to reactivate the toolbar under "Profiles" and than "Show Toolbar when viewing site". That's all.
But, when I'm back home today, I'll check for a WP-Function to call the Toolbar. Maybe, there's a simple way to do that. :)
Here is a small WP-Function to call the Adminbar in your theme. Maybe, that can fix your problem.

Otherwise… You can check your plugins. Maybe, that there is a conflict with the WP-Core. Deactivate all plugins and look what happens. If the Adminbar is shown on your site reactivate all plugins one by one.
Or have you tried to register a new user without Admin-Permissions? Does it works with this user?
